This year, during my time as a long-term teacher, I got trained in Sonday System. This is an Orton-Gillingham Reading Intervention to help students. The program is six steps to do daily for forty minutes. Within the year, I had two different groups of four students. Three out of the four students started on level eight at the beginning of the year.The other student started on level twelve in January. By the end of the year, one group progressed to level twenty-five and the other group progressed to level sixteen. Through trial and error, I learned what worked for all the students to make growth. I was constantly coming up with new ways to teach the same material, if that is what the students needed. By creating games for practicing spelling and automaticity, or letting them teach me to help them understand what they were doing.

Student A is in my higher group. He started on level eight and has moved to level 25. The first image is his most recent workbook page for learning VCe words. The second image level 23, where he learned 'oy', 'ar', and 'wh'. The third image is from level 20, where he reviewed his skills.
Student B is in my lower group. She started mid-year on level 12. She has moved up to level 16. The first image is her most recent page, and we started the new level. She learned the 'bl' and 'cl' blends. The second image is from level 15, where she learned 'sm', 'sn', 'sc', and 'sw'. The third image is from level 15, where she reviewed her skills.
